Trilobite (TRY-low-bite)

A class of extinct arthropods (the phylum that includes crabs, shrimp, lobsters, insects) found in rocks from the Paleozoic Era (540 million years ago to 250 million years ago). They are not closely related to any living arthropods, and their origin and reason(s) for going extinct are not known with certainty.
